An ancient methodology called panchakarma has been an eternal part of Ayurveda. ‘Panch’ means five while ‘karma’ means procedure of performing an ayurvedic treatment. Vasti ayurvedic treatment in panchakarma is cure to ailment of the patient by eliminating the toxins and doshas from the body. It is performed using the medicated oils and liquids to expel the impurities out of the body through the intestinal tract by means of urethra, anus and vaginal passage.
About 80% of vata related disorders can be treated by the vasti therapy and the medicated enemas. This treatment is executed over a specific duration of time that can be for a week to a month.  There are many types of vasti ayurvedic treatments, but it is broadly classified into:

• Kashaya Vasti : It is a therapeutic and cleansing enema where a combination of honey, oil, herbal paste and herbal decoction is administered as per the patient’s requirements and condition.

• Kativasti : It is a treatment where a frame of black gram paste is performed on your lower back and is filled with specially prepared warm herbal oil.

• Urovasthi : Warm medicated oil is poured and retained over the chest region through a channel prepared by herbal paste for a specific period of time.

• Shirovasthi : A leather container is fixed on the head and prescribed herbal oil is retained inside the container for a particular duration.
